Stop asking how she was dressed on that fateful evening

As soon as the question leave the prosecutor's tongue, it becomes quite clear how she or he thinks. Saying no may no longer be a no. Apparently it is enough to check how she is dressed. How long was her skirt, obviously short enough? Why endeavor to give women an education when, when it still doesn't really matter what they say.

A friend told me about a time when she had dinner with some colleagues. They had had a discussion and she claimed to know the answer. A few days later she received an email from her male colleague, with a link that confirmed what she had claimed. Apparently, it is not always enough for a woman to say, this is how it is.

Like in that rape case when the woman had screamed no. Apparently she had mentioned during the evening that she liked BDSM. If the prosecutor endeavored to even ask someone who actually exercises it, then the case had probably ended differently. I have only read the book "Fifty Shades of Grey" but I think that's enough to understand, that there is much more needed, then just claiming "eh she mentioned she was into that stuff". But, but it was just a rape case. Apparently not so much is required for playing stupid. Apparently not so much is required to convince a prosecutor that the man was quite sure that the woman wanted to have sex.

I almost feel a little sympathy for you men. It cannot be fun that people think so low of you. I know the feeling! For those of you being "real men" who treat women with respect, will also get a bad reputation because of the way rapists behave. I want to emphasize that I find men and women as equal, i.e. that they should respect each other as much. This is not just about women's rights to their own bodies. This will also imply that men simply are not that intelligent. Yes even men are violated when the question is asked.

I'm writing this post because I love to wear a skirt or a dress. And by that I mean only one thing. I wear that dress because I think it's neat, not because that you will enjoy what you see. There is one detail that people do not seem to understand. When I find a dress that I like, it exists only in one length. Sure, it comes in different sizes, but only in one length. I may not be quite clear. Just in ONE length. If you do not want a dress that goes down to the feet, then there are basically just one length of dresses. And the length is often a little too short. Although I wish the dresses that are available would be a little longer. Because as it is now I often feel compelled to have a discreet skirt or shorts underneath. It's pretty annoying to constantly have to drag a bit in the dress to make it a little longer, to avoid the glances that identifies you as a slut.

The next time the question is asked, maybe it should be asked to those who actually are responsible, to those who do not make sure that the collection is improved. For the fashion company that persist in manufacturing dresses, designed for the eye of the men. So that they have something beautiful to look at, something short. As long as we allow the prosecutor to ask this kind of question, we are helping to create a society where women's opinions do not really matter. Is this something that you want to have on your conscience?
